If you’re sick and tired of applying makeup daily, you’ve not got much of a steady hand, or you just don’t have the time, you may feel like you’re out of options. But the good news is that you can still achieve the perfect eyeliner with permanent makeup.
But before you dive headfirst into permanent eyeliner and makeup tattoos, you should learn more about how it works, what the process involves, and whether it’s the right thing for you to do.
Permanent Eyeliner Explained
Permanent eyeliner is a form of cosmetic tattooing and always done by a trained technician. The pigment (ink) used is very different from typical body tattooing ink, and it’s only deposited in the first layer of your skin above the dermis.
The color of the ink is also designed to fade over time, which is why the practice is often called semi-permanent. This fading not only allows for trends but also face changes and aging.
Permanent Eyeliner Styles
Eyeliner tattoos are applied to the lash line and can be applied in a fine, thin, medium, or thick style. The fine or tight line is when the pigment is added between the layers of the eyelashes. The ink darkens your lash line and subtly enhances your eyelashes.
With a thicker line called the eyeliner, the process involves going a step above the lash line and further onto the actual lid. This style makes it look as if you’re wearing liquid eyeliner.
But don’t worry, these two styles aren’t set in stone. Your technician will talk you through the look you specifically want. They may suggest merging the two. They will also advise you on what they think is the best style for you to opt for, considering your facial features and face shape.
What’s the Process?
The process itself is straightforward. After your consultation, your technician will first clean the eye area with an approved bacterial wipe. They will then apply numbing cream to reduce any feelings of discomfort.
Once the numbing cream kicks in, they will insert droplets of colored pigment under the skin using a cosmetic machine. Then, when your technician is happy with the result, a thin coat of ointment will be placed over your eyelid to aid the healing process.
Show Off Your New Look
Once you’ve healed and your eyes look gorgeous, it’s time to show them off. Between 3 to 10 days, you should be all ready to hit the town with beautifully lined eyes that you didn’t have to struggle with in the bathroom. You’ll love the results.
